“Les Cloches” Will Start on April 28. The captivating’ comic opera, ‘‘Les Cloches de Cornville.'’ a favourite in all climes and at all times, has been in active rehearsal for many weeks by the Christchurch Operatic Society, and the opera will be presented in a fortnight’s time at St James’ Theatre. The season will extend from Saturday, April 28, to the following Saturday, and on each Saturday a matinee performance will be given. The producer is Major Lampen, who is already well known to Christchurch theatre-goers, and there is no doubt that the cast is of exceptional ability, “Les Cloches, ’* as it is familiarly called, is one of the world’s best comic operas, and the reputation established by the Christchurch Operatic Society for the merit of its previous productions, is a guarantee that theatre patrons will be treated to an entertainment of a very high standard.
