LAURIAN CLUB.

The first recital of the Laurian Club, to be held on Saturday, April 21, at the Radiant Hall, will in every way uphold the high standard set by previous recitals. One of the major works to be performed is Mendelssohn’s String Octet. Opus 20, written for four violins, two violas and two violoncellos. Another interesting and beautiful work to be given is Rheinberger’s Pianoforte Ouintet, Opus 3 14, to be played by Misses N. Middleton and D Deal, Messrs J. Mercer, D. Woodword and N. Newson. A delightful number is SaintSaens Caprice for solo piano and stringorchestra. Miss Althea Harley Slack will take the solo piano in this. Other numbers on the programme are Musette for Clarinet, Oboe and Bassoon by Pfi offer; Shakespearean songs with strong accompaniment (Stanley Mor gan) and Percy Grainger’s Colonial Song, also with string accompaniment.
