IDENTITY ESTABLISHED.

The police have established the identity, of a young man who is stated to have plunged into the Waimakariri River from the traffic bridge early on Monday evening. Later on in the night another man was seen to jump off the parapet of the bridge, but an extensive search has failed to reveal any trace of him. It is now certain that two different men were involved. The young man who got into the river first was assisted out by a fisherman, to whose home he was taken for a meal and a change of clothing. The police are still patrolling the river banks in the hope of finding some trace of the second man.
