NEW CHURCH HALL.

Foundation Stone Laid At Rangiora. The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the Presbyterian Sunday School hall at Rangiora took place this afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of the church congregation and friends. Owing to the boisterous nor’-wester the first part of the proceedings was held in the church, the Rev J. A. F. Watson presiding. The Christchurch Presbytery was represented by the Moderator (Mr W. H. Rose) and the Revs T. Paterson and A. C. Watson, each of whom offered warm congratulations to the congregation on the forward step they were taking, and spoke on various aspects of Sunday school work, emphasising its importance in relation to the church. The ceremony of laying the stone was carried out by Mrs Thomas Wyllie, to whom a silver trowel was presented by the builders, Messrs Keir and Thompson, as a memento of the occasion. Mr R. R. Gillanders, Deputy-Mayor, offered the congratulations of the borough councillors and burgesses, and conveyed good wishes for the prosperity of the school.
