“JACK’S THE BOY.”

Popular Film Booked for Return Season. “ The Blarney* Stone,” starring Tom Walls and Anne Grey, will conclude its season at the Civic Theatre to-morrow night. It is onty qn rare occasions that the picture-going public make requests for return seasons, but in the past few months the management of the Civic Theatre has received innumerable requests for no fewer than three attractions. The first of these, “ Rqokery Nook,” was recently screened and gained the distinction of breaking the theatre’s opening day record. The second, “ Jack’s the Boy,” will start on Saturday, and judging by the inquiries already received, this attraction looks like being even more successful. When last screened in New Zealand “ Jack’s the Boy ” proved to be one of the most successful films cf the year and on being presented in Australia established a record by running for twent>’-five weeks in one theatre in Melbourne. At the head of a strong cast are jhose most popular English screen stars, Jack Hulbert, Cecity Courtneidge and Winifred Shotter. Jack Hulbert in the leading role shows how he has come to earn the title of Britain’s comedy 7 king. He is provided with a number of excellent songs, notabty “The Flies Crawled Up the Window ” and “ I Want to Cling to Ivy,” and is given the opportunity for some exceptional clever dancing. Three excellent supports will precede the main feature. Plans are now open at the theatre, where seats may be reserved at no extra cost.
