APPEALS HEARD.
Transport Co-ordination Board. The Transport Co-ordination Board its first public sitting to-dav at the Chamber of Commerce building. The board, which consists of Sir Stephen Allen (chairman), Messrs H. B S. Johnstone and L. Alderton, replaces the Appeal Board of the Transport Licensing Authority. The board held over its decision in a case in which George Lowis (Mr SarSrent) appealed against alteration to the schedule of his Christchurch-Ash-burton service. Bertrand A. Board appealed against the decision of the Nofl 8 Transport Licensing Authority and sought a license to carry on a freight service from Christchurch to Kaikoura. Mr R. A. Young appeared for appellant. Mr C. S. Thomas for Rink Taxis, Mr L. A. Knight for Kaikoura Freight Services, Ltd., and Mr F. W. Aicken for the Railways Board. The appeal was dismissed. Smart and Sons, Ltd., of Hornby IMr H. J. Knight), appealed against a decision in respect to parts of a license applied for in respect of a service of delivery of petrol and oil, and the transport of goods for Dalgety’s own clients.
