North Canterbury Women’s Institutes. MEETING OF FEDERATION. The annual meeting of the Nc-rth Canterbury Federation of Women’s Institutes was held this morning, Mrs William Deans presiding over an attendance of more than 100 delegates. Before the meeting opened, Mrs Deans presented Mrs 11. Patterson, the Dominion president, with a bouquet and expressed pleasure at her attendance. Mrs Deans said that there had been two cutstanding events in the federation s year—the Dominion conference and the formation of a separate West Coast Federation. The Dominion Conference had made a great difference to the Canterbury institutes, and the formation of the West Coast Federation had drawn the country districts together. It was to be hoped that the North Canterbury Federation would become the best in New Zealand. The annual report stated that the \\ omen's Institute movement had grown d F rlng * h « year. The West’ Coast had, on October 25, decided to break away from the North Canterburv federation, and had formed a separate federation. The following remits were adopted:— Kirwee: That all institutes adopt, as a definite part of the year’s programme, a scheme for beautifying the countryside ui co-operation with local bodies. Duvauchelles: That all minor matters should be sent to the. federation executive for information and advice, instead or to the Dominion Conference. Election of Officers.
