The R.S.A. Will Help.

Dear Sir,—As there may be more in the same invidious position as myself, may I be permitted to seek advice per medium of your columns? Being physically incapable of sustained manual labour, 1 am informed there is no chance of employment under the relief scheme. I am, unfortunately perhaps, a returned soldier, but am ineligible for assistance from the association as I am not a financial member, nor can I afford the membership fee. Years ago we were led to believe (inter alia) that certain of our canteen funds were to be distributed, but it now seems there is no hope of obtaining any of this, until our mental faculties become more impaired. That may not be far distant, of course. In the meantime, I for one am endeavouring, now hopelessly, to maintain a home of seven on a weekly income of under 30s. We have had no coal this year so far and have burned practically all the twigs and grass for firing This week there is not enough left for the rent. Work cannot be secured even with first-class testimonials. Being now practically at breaking point, can anyone offer any hopeful suggestion? —I am. etc., DESPERATION. The secretary of the R.S.A. says that if the correspondent registers as unemployed at the R.S.A., he will have as much done for him in the way of casual work, if it is available, as it he were a financial member. No help is denied merely because the applicant is unfinancial.—Ed., “ Star.”
