RANGIORA COURT.

Sequel to Fatality at Woodend. As the sequel to a motor-cycle accident which occurred at Woodend on October 24, 1933, and resulted in the death of a pillion rider, Frederick Joseph Hobbs was charged in the Magistrate’s Court at Rangiora to-day with negligently driving a motor-cycle. Defendant, who was represented by Mr Kippenberger, pleaded guilty and was fined £2 and costs, and was ordered by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., to pay medical and other expenses totalling £2 14s 6d. For driving a car at a dangerous speed, Horace Kirk was fined £2 and costs. Thomas O’Carroll (Mr Kippenberger), who admitted seven charges of failing to pay instalments of the unemployment levy, was fined 5s and costs 10s on one charge, and convicted and discharged on the others. In a civil claim, C. E. Cattermoor v. Albert Quin, judgment was given for plaintiff by default for £5 5s 6d and costs.
