Mrs Fred Smith, Cambridge Terrace, has'returned from Peel Forest, where she has been spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs Gilchrist, Dallington Terrace. Bishop West-Watson and Mrs WestWatson left Christchurch last evening for Napier, where the bishop will attend the triennial meeting of the General Synod which will open to-morrow. Dean Julius and Mrs Julius, St Andrew’s Hill, will leave this evening for Napier, where the dean will attend the triennial meeting of the General Synod. Mrs M, H. Godby, Fendalton, and Mrs E. G. Kerr, Timaru, will leave Christchurch on Thursday evening to attend a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union in Wellington.

Miss Aspinall has returned to Christchurch after staying with Mrs Andrew Guild, Strathearn, Temuka. Mr and Mrs Geoffrey Hamilton, Fendalton, have returned from a visit to Hanmer Springs. Miss Peggy Norton has left her flat in Bealev Avenue and has moved into Albany Courts, Papanui Road. Miss Betty Murray, Woodbank, Clarence Bridge, is staying with Mrs Charles Cooper, Brown's Road. Mrs Harold Harman and Miss M. Oxley, Fendalton, will leave to-morrow on a holiday visit to “ The Lodge,” Hanmer Springs. Mrs E. J. Cordner, Rossall Street, and Mrs Arthur Thomson. Montreal Street, who have been staying at Hanmer Springs, have returned home. Mrs Calcutt, London, will leave on her return journey to England by the Akaroa on May 1, after spending six months in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs H, A. Knight, Racecourse Hill, and their daughters, Mrs Alister Deans, Darfield, and Mrs George Aitken, Fendalton, who have been staying at Hanmer Springs, have returned home. t Lady Vestev, wife of Sir Edmond Vestey, a leading figure in the world chilled meat trade, arrived in Auckland on Saturday morning by the Mariposa with Sir Edmond, to visit New Zealand, the land of her birth, which she left when three months old. Mrs Ross Nott, Sydney, and her daughters, Mrs W. H. Cooper, Merivale Lane, and Mrs Farncomb, who have been visiting Hanmer Springs, have returned to Christchurch, accompanied by Mrs Keppel Archer, Fendalton. Mrs Ross Nott and Mrs Farncomb will'leave to-morrow evening on their return journey to Sydney. Many old girls of Nga Tawa, from every part of New Zealand, spent the week-end at their old school in Marton, sixty-one being present. On Saturday the annual meeting was held, also the annual tennis match between qld girls and present girls. In the evening the school presented “ lolanthe,” and Wellington old girls gave a “ thumb-nail ” performance. On Friday evening a large number were present at the annual dance for old girls and their friends.
