Mr J. K. Storrie (Wellington) is stay ing at the Clarendon Hotel.

Messrs W. D. Smail (Auckland) and C. N. Welch (Wellington) are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr J. D. Hall left for Wellington by last evening’s steamer on a business visit.

Mr R. B. Bell, of Timaru, was among the passengers for Wellington by the Wahine last evening. Mr F. W. Aicken, law officer for the New Zealand Government Railways, is a guest at the New City Hotel. Mr C. Ogilvie will leave for Wellington this evening to attend the Drapers’ Conference. Messrs J. Harle (Wellington) and H. W. Conham (Dunedin) are staying at the Royal Hotel. Dr Norman Martin (Dunedin) will pass through Christchurch this evening on his way north. He will leave shortly for England. Mr J. Wade, J.P., a visitor from Bradford, England, sat on the Bench with Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning during portion of the Magistrate’s Court sitting. Messrs H. V. Ellis (Wellington), J. C. Wagner (Wellington), W. G. Foletta (Melbourne), W. Cokes (Auckland), D. Fraser (Coventry), G. Stock (Wellington) and W. Morton (Wellington) are staying at the United Service Hotel. The Rev F. A. Tooley, the vicar of Woolston parish, will take over the charge of Okains Bay this month, during the period while the Church Army is conducting a series of missions in the parish. Mr A. B. Lane, manager of the United Press Association, will leave Wellington on a visit to Sydney and Melbourne by the Wanganella on Thursday next. He will be accompanied by Mrs Lane. Mr William C. Guthrie, of Imperial Chemical Industries of Australia and New Zealand, Ltd., is a passenger by the Wanganella arriving in Wellington to-day. Mr Guthrie expects to spend about a fortnight in thq Dominion. Captain T. Wood, -who recently retired from the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, is at present visiting Christchurch. He is staying at the Federal Hotel. Captain Wood may later make his home in New Zealand.

Leading-Seaman John David Keay and Ordinary-Seaman Charles C. Stevens, of the Canterbury Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, have been appointed probationary sublieutenants in New Zealand Division, R.N.V.R. Messrs D. Y. Mair (London), E. G. Nicholl (Auckland), J. Sawers (Wellington), D. S. M’Kenzie (North Canterbury), A. G. Beauchamp (Albury), E. D. Hunter (Timaru) and F. (Dunedin) are guests at the New City Hotel.

Mr A. R. Thompson, who succeeds Mr J. N. Greenland as manager of the Christchurch branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived from the north this morning. Mr Greenland, who has been appointed manager at Auckland, will leave for the north on Saturday. The new secretary for New Zealand of the Mission to Lepers, Mr F. Charles Perry, late clerk of the Waitomo County Council, will address various meetings in and around Christchurch. During Mr Charles Perry’s stay in Christchurch he will be the guest of his brother, Mr F. Colin Perry, Park Road, New Brighton. Bishop West-Watson left by the Wahine last evening on his way to Napier to attend the triennial meeting of the General Synod, opening on Thursday. Archdeacon Whitehead, Archdeacon Fitchett and Dean Cruickshanks also passed through Christchurch on their way north. Dean Julius will leave this evening. The Rev and Mrs F. B. Redgrave were farewelled after the annual parish meeting of the St Barnabas Church last night. The people’s warden, Mr R. S. D. Harman, conveyed to Mr and Mrs Redgrave the thanks of the parish for their strenuous work during the past four and a half years. He hoped that they and their daughter would be very happy and wished them an enjoyable trip to the Old Country. Mr George M’lntyre, who celebrated his ninetieth birthday yesterday, was called upon by the Mayor of New Brighton (Mr E. A. M. Leaver) and Mr A. W. Owles, a former Mayor of the borough, to offer their congratulations. Mr M’lntyre and Mr Owles aie the only living members of the first New Brighton Borough Council, which was formed in 1896. Mr M’lntyre was a member of the council for two years and at a later period he was Mayor for three years, from 1901 to 1903. Mr W. G. Holloway, secretary to the New Brighton Methodist Sunday School, who has been appointed assistant town clerk of Eastbourne, Wellington, was met by members of "he church and Sunday School, the Rev S. Bailey presiding over a large attendance. Messrs R. Buxton, F. Wayman and R. Rowan expressed their regret at Mr Holloway’s departure and spoke of the value of his work in the church. Mr A. E. Lawry presented Mr Iloiloway with a reading lamp and New Testament. Members of the staff of Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., met last evening to bid farewell to Mr R. M. L. Kitto, director in charge of the grain department, who is leaving for England on a health recruiting trip. The chairman (Mr F. M. Warren) and Messrs T. J. Maling, G. Frizzell, Norton Francis and G. Fleetwood voiced the regret of the staff at Mr Kitto’s departure, and wished him a speedy recovery. On behalf of the staff, Mr Fleetwood handed Mr Kitto a pocket wallet. A minute expressing appreciation nf the services rendered to St Andrew's College by Mr A K. Anderson during his fourteen years’ head mastership is to be drawn up by the chairman of the Board of Governors and the chairmen of sub-committees. Mr Anderson has accepted the principalship of Scots College, Sydney, and his resignation was accepted with deep regret at the annual meeting of the St Andrew’s board.
