M.U.1.0.0.F. MEETING.

The first meeting of the newly-elected district officers and ' members of the management committee of the M.U., 1.0.0. F. was held on April 5, the District Grand Master, Brother F. Cole, presiding. Others present were: D.D.G.M. Brother A. Gow, D.S. Brother T. J. Archbold, D.T. Brother J. R. Merriman, I.P.D.G.M. Brother S. G. Geary, Brothers F. Barnes, W. B. Brown, W. Teale and the District Trustee, Brother C. S. Thompson, P.G.’s. The Grand Master extended a welcome to the committee, all old and new members, and especially to Brother Teale, of the Loyal Coleridge Lodge. He expressed the hope that their year of office would be beneficial to themselves and the Order. The editor of the handbook (Brother W. B. Browne) presented his report, which revealed certain laxity on the part of some lodges in sending in their programmes for the year. I*t was decided that the D.D.G.M. should be the publicity officer for the year: that lodges be circularised calling for nominations of members willing to act (if elected) on the Ritual and Instruction Committee; and that the Past Grand Lodge No. 1 be requested to forward the names of six members willing to act as judges (if elected) for the efficiency competition. The D.G.M. reported having attended the annual conference of the Ashburton District, where he received a warm welcome.
