TECHNICAL COLLEGE.

Formation of Two New Classes. The Board of Governors of the Christchurch Technical College met last evening; present: Mr M’Gregor B. Wright (chairman). Mrs D. M. Opie, Messrs J. W. Graham. S. R. Evison, T. W. West, D. Rowse. A. H. Scales, A. G. Williams, J. W. Roberts. G. E. Franklin, J. J. Hurley. F. M. Robson and B. Seth Smith. The Appointments Committee reported that it had appi’oved of the formation of an extra class in botany in the evening classes under the instruction of Dr W. Bryden, also the formation of a special class in agriculture, if sufficient students enrolled, and the appontof the following instructors in the evening classes; Radio service, Mr R. A. M’Lennan, 8.E., from five applicants; millinery, Miss E. M. Rodwell, from twelve applicants. The committee recommended that a home science bursary be awarded to Geraldine Webb. The report was adopted. .Tiue. Agricultural Committee reported that support of the training of third year agricultural boys in practical operations had been promised by two leading orchardists, three dairy farmers, a sheep farmer and a poultry farmer. Demonstrations In connection with pig raising had also been promised and it was anticipated that support would be received from several other quarters. The agricultural instructor had been authorised to proceed with the scheme, particularly In order to take advantage of seasonal operations. The principal had been instructed to ask for recognition of this work from the Education Department, and to obtain an assurance that the boys would be covered by insurance in case of accident so that no liability whatever would be incurred by the farmers concerned. The report was adopted.
