LAURIAN CLUB.

The programme for the Laurian Club’s first recital of the 1984 seaaon. to be given at the Radiant Hall on Saturday, April 21, promises to be fully as interesting and enjoyable as the others that stand to the club’s credit. Prominent works rarely heard include the Mendelssohn String Octet; Rheinberger Pianoforte Quintet, Op. 114; Caprice for Pianoforte and Strings, by Saint-Saens; Musette for Clarinet, Oboe and Bassoon; and two attractive Suites for Orchestra by Purcell and Holst. Contrast will be provided by a growp of Shakespearean songs, composed by a young Christchurch musician, Mr Stanley Morgan. These songs, possessing much charm and originality* will be sung by Mr Hubert Carter, with quintet accompaniment. In addition. Miss Molly Hatherly and Mr Carter will be heard in Percy Grainger’s Colonial Song for soprano and tenor, with trio accompaniment.
