(Received April 7,2 p.m.) LONDON, April 6 Frederick Hopkins was remanded for a week for stowing away on the Moldavia at Fremantle. He pleaded: “It was a son’s love for his mother that made me do it. It was the only way of reaching my mother, who is sick.” The prosecution said that it had been intended to put Hopkins arhore at Colombo, but he disappeared and left a note in his cabin suggesting that he had committed suicide, but he was seen walking the deck at Port Said.
