UNUSUAL PICTURE.

Jessie Matthews Starred in “Friday, the Thirteenth.”

Carolina ” will be shown finally tonight at the Regent Theatre. “ Friday, The 'l hirteenth,” an outstanding production from the Gau-mont-British Picture Corporation’s studios, will be the headline attraction at the Regent Theatre to-morrow. Overseas critics state that this unusual picture is delightfully intriguing and entertaining. The leading feminine role is taken the vivacious Jessie Matthews (of “Good Companions” fame), and she is supported by Gordon Harker, whose Cockney comedy characterisations are worldfamous ; Edmund Gwenn, an actor whose work is always a delight; Ursula Jeans, Donald Calthrop and , Robertson Hare, who has appeared in many of the Tom WallsRalph Lynn successes. “ Friday, The Thirteenth ” presents something entirely new in screen stories— a, glimpse back through the past few weeks to see how fate drew eighteen people together into a bus that crashed on Friday, the thirteenth. It is a very human and intensely interesting picture, marked by brilliant acting by some of England’s leading players. “ Friday the 13th ” imitates the technique of that very successful stage play, “ Dinner at Eight ” in that the audience follows a handful of widely differing characters through various episodes and adventures, which finally bring them to a central meeting point. Box plans at the D.I.C.
