BOXING.

Sports Club to Hold Novice Tournament. It is the intention of the Christchurch Sports Club to open its season on Tuesday. April 17, with an amateur novice tournament to be held in the Caledonian Hall. The committee will meet next Tuesday evening: to arrange the necessary details in connection with the tournament, entries for which are now being received and will finally close at 5 p.m. that evening. With a view to creating competition among trainers. Mr H. S. Williams has donated a trophy for the trainer whose pupils gain the greatest number of victories in the ring during the current Clarrie Rayner the holder of the professional feather-weight title of New Zealand, having accepted the challenge of P. G. Hawes it is expected to stage this at Christchurch on May 1 or 8.
