ACCEPTANCES for the Thames Trotting Club’s meeting will close to-day. * * * * Nominations for the Te Aroha Trotting Club’s meeting will close to-day. * * * * Acceptances for the trotting events at the Reefton Jockey Club’s meeting are due on April 9. * * * * Nominations for the trotting events to be decided at the Amberley Racing Club’s meeting will close on April 10. * * * * Mr A. J. Hastings has been appointed starter at the Kaikoura Trotting Club’s meeting, which is set down for April 21. / FOR AWAPUXI. Mr E. F. C. Hinds will leave to-night for Palmerston North with the champion pacer, Harold Logan, and tne trotting gelding, Billy Sunday. Harold Logan will give an exhibition over one mile at the Manawatu Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday. Mr Hinds may then take Harold Logan and Billy Sunday to the Thames meeting, which will take place on April 14. From there Harold Logan will go to Auckland to compete in the match races against Walla Walla, Red Shadow and other fast pacers at the Auckland and Northland Trotting Clubs’ meetings. CORRIGAN’S SALE. Twenty horses were sold at Mr J. R. Corrigan’s sale of trotters and pacers held at Hawera on Easter Monday. The top price, 105 gs, was paid for a yearling colt full-brother to Worthy Queen. The purchaser was Mr T. Agnew, of Hastings. Mr Agnew also purchased a yearling colt related to Worthy Queen for 50gs. Mr F. S. Hewer, of Wellington, bought a yearling colt by Worthy Bingen from Queen Elizabeth for 52gs. The well bred mare. Ivy Axworthy, # with a filly foal at foot by Worthy Bingen, fetched 31gs. The pacer \Vinshow fell to the bid of Mr P. Skossgard (Hawera) for 23Ags. Autowin went to Mr J. NOrwell (Stratford) for ll*gs, and Vesta Ray was secured by Messrs Heginbotham Bros, for Bgs. WINNING OWNERS. Mr C. P. Cameron’s horses won most money at the Easter meeting at Addington. All told, Sir Guy, Harold Denver and Avernus earned £540. Mr E. F. C. Hinds, through the agency of Harold Logan, is second on the fist with £450. Next is Mr G. J. Barton, ■with £440. Other owners with more than £2OO to their credit are Messrs J. Guy £355, L. S. Martin £350, J. S Shaw £315, W. M’Kay £3OO, V. Alborn £250, C. S. Donald £250, and J. J. Kennedy £225. A SUGGESTION. It is understood that the Forbury Park Trotting Club would like to have Walla Walla at its winter gathering, but the dates allotted for that meeting do not enable the Dunedin officials to fit in with the champion’s itinerary. Walla Walla ‘will be at Ashburton on April 14, and at Auckland on April 28. He may race at Wellington in May. A suggestion has been made that the Forbury Club should approach the South Canterbury Jockey Club with a view to an exchange of dates. The South Canterbury Jockey Club has secured April 21, which would suit the Forbury Club splendidly, for Walla Walla could go on from Ashburton to Dunedin, then to Auckland and back to Wellington, then leave for Sydney in May as his owner has planned. LIBERAL INDUCEMENTS. The Kaikoura Trotting Club is to be complimented upon the programme it has arranged for its annual meeting on Saturday, April 21, and on the liberal inducements it offers to owners in connection with the transport of horses from Christchurch and elsewhere. First of all, the list of events is a big attraction to owners of maiden pacers and trotters and of horses that have graduated to slightly better marks. The principal event is the Kaikoura Handicap, of 100 sovs., for horses capable of doing 4min 52sec or faster; two miles. The Farewell Handicap, of 60 sovs., is for horses that can go one mile in saddle in 2min 23sec or better. There are two races for maiden unhoppled trotters over one mile and a half, and there is a mile harness race for horses capable of covering that distance in 2min 30sec or faster. Other events are the Kekerangu Handicap for horses that can do 3min 7sec or better, one mile and a quarter; and the President’s Handicap of 70 sovs., for horses that can do 3min lsec or faster, one mile and a quarter. The other race is a 3min 45sec class, one mile and a half In addition to making a big reduction in nomination and acceptance fees, the club undertakes to pay transport charges on al] horses as follows:—From their stables in Christchurch to Kaikoura and back, £3; from Blenheim to Kaikoura and return, £2 ss; and from Cheviot, £1 5s return Such liberal inducements should result in the club receiving big entries. Nominations will close with the secretary, Mr W. Perrin, at Kaikoura, on Monday next, at 9 p.m. TROTTING FIXTURES. April 6, 7—Greymouth J.C. April 7—Taranaki T.C. April 7—Manawatu T.C.
