The indefinable force called magnetirm is in some mysterious way centred on the North Magnetic Pole. It is to it, and net the geographical North Pole, that the compass needle is attracted. The North Magnetic Pole fluctuates slightly. Sometimes it is at one side of the geographical Pole and sometimes at the other. Only occasionally do the two overlap.
