CYCLING.

Question of Competitors for Empire Games. TWO NOMINATIONS. A meeting of the Canterbury Amateur Cycling Centre was held last evening. Mr C. N. Hamilton presiding. There were also present—Messrs .1. Blick. G. R. Giles, A. C. Hands, G. Haneox. F. Kilpatrick, T. «.rose, G. R. B. Giles, jun., O. Alford. I*. la. Rouse. .1. C. Fahey, C. D. Doyle arid F, Knipe (honorary secretary). The chairman raised the question of the nomination of cyclists for the Empire Games. Mr Giles, sen., considered the centre shbuld not nominate too many men. otherwise it would be making a joke of the matter. Mr Grose said the Cycling Association should ask for a portion of the funds available to send representatives of New Zealand to the Games. The chairman thought they should send the names of two cyclists forward to the association for consideration by the Olympic Association. On the motion of Mr Blick, seconded by Mr Doyle, it was de-ided to nominate F. J. Grose and G. R. B. Giles for inclusion in the New Zealand team for the Games. Waikari Caster Meeting. The chairman reported that the Waikari Club had agreed to donate £2 towards the expenses of Christchurch ridel’s who would he competing at its meeting on Easter Monday. It was complained by delegates that the club had been granted a permit for its meeting on the condition that entry fees were limited to Js. whereas it had advertised the entry fees as Is 6d. After lengthy discussion the secretary was instructed to write to the club nointing out that the entrance fees must be Is only. Proposed New Constitution. The New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association wrote forwarding a copy of the constitution and details of proposed affiliation fees. The fee for each centre was to be £2 2s, and for clubs to the centre as under: One to twentyfour active cyclists, 10s 6d; twenty-five to fifty. £1 Is; fifty-one to seventy-five, £1 11s 6d; over seventy-five. £2 2s. Any club or society not affiliated to a eentr* would be required to pay 5s for a permit to conduct a meeting on one day. It was agreed that the constitution be considered at a special meeting, the matter being deferred in the meantime to give clubs an opportunity to discuss the question. The association further advised that reinstatements had been granted to E. J. Drake. E. A. M’Kaskell, A. C. Walker and N. Brown.
