Special Prizes Awarded by Society. A meeting of the Horticultural Society was held last evening, Mr L. J 3. Hart presiding. The Morse Challenge Cup, competed for at the February gladiolus show and awarded to any exhibit showing a distinct advance ill species, cultivation or in any other direction, was allotted to Mr C. H. Moir, for his exhibit of seedj ling gladioli. I Special prizes in the home gardens i competitions were awarded as follows:—New Zealand institute of Arcbilecta Cup for taste and design, Mr H. E. Ctley, Heaton St.*et; Ashby, Bergli and mice, Mr 11. E. Otley; Nairn airfSors”* prize for flowers and shrubs, Mr A. J\. I tad fife Id, Banks Avenue: Mr 1.. B. Hart's prize for A class vegetables, Mrs J. Foster, Papanui; Mr H, E. Bartons prize for B class vegetables, Mrs Keith Garrick, Murray Place; Sutton’s Cup for C class vegetables, Mrs G. Hampton Rhodes, Riccarton Road; New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association s prize for lawns, Mr A. Payuter, Idris Road; Mr J. S. Hawke’s prize for native plants, Mr A. K Hadfield. Ranks Avenue; Mr G. H. Hoi ford’s prize for out door-grown ferns, Mr T. Smart, Ashgrove Terrace; Mr T. Smart’s Challenge ‘•up for indoor-grown ferns, Mr Ewart Smith, St Martins Road; Mr R. L. Keiirett’s Cup for special features, Mrs ■Ceith Garrick, Murray Place. The resignation of Mr C. D. Marks tom the committee was received wi h ■egret, and Mr T. B. Griniley was elected to fill the vacancy.
