Britain Must Reorganise to Compete With Japan. United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, March 26. Sir Harry M’Gowan, the well-known financier and industrialist, addressing the Conservative Members’ Committee, said that Japanese competition would be intensive in the future. They had profited by Britain’s errors and installed modern machinery. He had recently visited Japan, but he did not see any signs of discontent among the workers. British firms, he said, must reorganise and reduce their costs. Price, not quality, was the acid test to-day. They needed a planned programme for industry.
