Company Activities and Returns. Saying that many properties in Western Australia and elsewhere had been investigated by the company's engineer (Mr T. J. Shephard), Mr H. Hanson, a director of Cracow Gold N.L., Avho presided over the annual general meeting of the company in Melbourne, referred to two properties in NeAv Zealand in which the company was interested. Mr Shephard, he said, was absent in New Guinea (not on the company's business), and AA*ould be away for some time. Little could be done until his return. They already had two prospecting options under consideration—one at Greymouth and the other at Gillams, which \A*as tAvo or three miles from Stafford, and which should prove suitable for dredging. Boring arrangements had been made, the companies sharing the cost proportionately, and Mr Shephard would check the results on his return. The company would have the right to participate in any flotation, taking up 30,000 shares, on the basis of ten shares for one. The cost to the company would be about £2OO. The other property was at Greymouth, where the sands contained fine gold. Here also the company would participate in any flotation to the extent of 30,000 out of 90,000 shares. Both properties had been recommended by Mr Shephard. The company had a credit balance of £375, after allowing for the first payment of prospecting Bell Hooper Cromwell Cold, Ltd. The Bell Hooper report on the mine for the week ended March 23 is as follows: The men were engaged on blocking out drives and blocking out work. The diversion drive from the No. l main drive adA*anced 18ft: also two blocking out drives were commenced in Block T to subdivide this block into suitable blocking areas. Blocking out work was in progress in Blocks R, Y and E. The blocking Avork in Block S' has been discontinued until the No. 3 north drive connects with the No. 2 tunnel outlet. The contractor up to March 24 has completed a distance of 391 ft. The preparatory work on the plant and the erecticn work of the storage bins is still in progress. The total gold obtained for the week was 4Soz 4dwt 1 Ogr. The total gold Avon to date is 10440 z 4dwt 9gr. New Cornish Point Mines, Ltd. On November 24, the manager of New Cornish Point reported:— For the past Aveek. the level has been advanced 10ft, making the total distance 174 ft. The country driven through was rock of a fairly solid nature, Avith a little water making in ‘‘ie bottom. Work on this driA*e was carried on with three shifts. The cross-cut south has been advanced 15ft, making the total distance of 30ft from the bottom of the incline tunnel. The country dri\*en through was allu\*ial, containing values slightly belter than last week. The rock bottom in this, though of an irregular nature, rising and dipping as the dri\*e advances, is in the floor of the driA*e, the latter being continued on practically a level grade for the full distance. The hauling Avinch has been removed from where it was situated and re-erect-ed in its permanent position on top of the storage bin. Talisman Dubbo. The Talisman Dubbo Company reports having treated 31 2-5 tons for an actual realisation of £385. Mataki Dredge. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. March 26. The Mataki gold dredging return for the week ended March 24 was 30 ounces for 124 hours* work.
