HAS NO FUNDS.

Otago Centre’s Answer to Appeal. A LONG MEMORY. (Special to the “ Star.”) DUNEDIN, March 28. Apparently the Otago Swimming Centre has a long memory as it recalled last night, when a request was made that the centre should contribute towards a fund for sending probably N. Crump (Auckland) and W. Whareatu (South Auckland) to the Empire Games, that northern centres had allowed Otago to raise money practically on its own to send Miss Kathleen Miller to the Olympic Games and Roy Calder to the Empire Games. Otago was then aggrieved at the attitude, which was described as parochial at the time, and by stating that it has no funds to make a grant towards this year’s trip the centre is, in effect, retorting in like phrase: ‘‘ Pay 3-ourself if you want to send } r our own swimmers away.”
