LATE MRS AGNES SCOTT
Well Known in Rangiora and Christchurch.
News has been received of the death at her home in Palmerston North of Mrs Agnes Scott, widow of Mr J. G. Lawrence Scott, a former headmaster of East Christchurch School. Mrs Scott was born at Papanui in ISSS, and was the daughter of Mr J. J. Robinson, I a well-known Rangiora pioneer/ | In 1874 Mrs Scott joined the staff of the Rangiora Borough School, and in 1878 became its headmistress. The next year she married the then headmaster of the Rangiora School, Mr J. G. Lawrence Scott. In 1882 Mr and Mrs Scott moved to Christchurch, where Mr Scott had been appointed headmaster of East Christchurch School. Residing in Avonside, both Mrs Scott and her husband were enthusiastic workers in the Holy Trinity parish. After the death of her husband at Fremantle, on his way to England, Mrs Scott lived at Tahuanui, Nelson for some years, and later moved to Palmerston North. Mrs Scott is survived by three sons, Mr W. Lawrence Scott, C.1.E., 1.C.5., Commissioner at Silchar, Assam, India; Mr Colin Scott, of Takaha, Nelson, and Mr F. J. Lawrence Scott, who is on the staff of the New Brighton District High School. Mrs Scott also leaves one daughter, Mrs J. W. Stuckey, of Napier. There are seven grandchildren.
