ROWING REGATTA.
Revival of Four-oar Events at Kaiapoi. The Kaiapoi Regatta was held on the north branch of the Waimakariri River this afternoon. The weather and water conditions were ideal. A feature of the programme was the revival of four-oar events, after a lapse of 25 years. All events were contested over a half-mile course. There was a large attendance of spectators, and some excellent racing was witnessed. Results were as follows: Light-weight Maiden Four-oar—Final: Cure 1, Union 2. Won by three-quarters of a length. Maiden Four-oar—Final: Canterbury 1, Avon 2. Won by a foot. Junior Pair-oar—Final: Union 1, Cure 2. Won by a length. Youths' Double Sculls—Avon 1, Canterbury 2. Won by a foot. Maiden Double Sculls—Cure 1, Union 2. Won by half a length. SumnerRedeliffs also started. Junior Double Sculls—Canterbury 1, •Cure 2. Won by two lengths. Union also started. Light-weight Maiden Double Sculls— Union 1, Cure 2. Won by five lengths. D.C.L. Shield points for season—Union 72, Avon 68, Canterbury 53, Cure 29, Akaroa. 27, Sumner-Redcliffs 0.
