Thirteenth Choice Wins First Race.

Backers began the day badly. Endurance, cerrying £l4O 10s, favourite for the Improvers’ Handicap, was prominent most of the way, but tired over the closing stages. Mother’s Boy began well, but made a break after going a furlong. He steadily improved his position again with a fast run along the back, and took charge rounding the home turn. He outstayed the opposition in the run home and won by four lengths from Royal Parrish, who broke near the post. Prince Harvester Avas three-quarters of a length away third. Renegade was fourth. The winner was thirteenth favourite, carrying £35, and paid a good double figure dividend. Royal Parrish carried £43 10s. Belfast Handicap. Social Pest, with £307, and "ummit, with £192, were the favourites for the Belfast Handicap. Real Burton got to the front inside a furlong and led for the rest of the way. Passing the stand, Social Pest, Gold Claim, Satin Lass and Tollgate were nearest to the leader. Real Burton led along the back from Social Pest, Gold Claim, Red Flyer, Golden Dollar and Camera. Real Burton led into the straight from Social Pest, Golden Dollar and Camera. Camera threw out a strong challenge, but Real Burton had a little in reserve and won by half a length. Grand Author, who finished well, was four lengths away third, and Golden Dollar was fourth. Real Burton carried £lO7 and Camera £65. Denton Memorial Handicap. The Westport mare, Fernbrook Lass, came to the rescue of favourite backers in the Denton Memorial Handicap, the chief event of the day. She carried £369, while £366 was invested on Young Frank. Real Huon led at the outset, but at the end of half a mile Accras took charge. Harold Denver joined Accras, and with a round to go, this pair led from Real Huon, Young Frank, Fernbrook Lass and Royal Serene. The other two had failed to go away. There was little change in the ord,er until the far turn was reached, when Fernbrook Lass drew into third place. Fernbrook Lass took charge as soon as they entered the straight and won by half a length from Real Huon with Accras four lengths away third. Harold Denver was fourth. There tvere only two dividends in this race. Real Huon carried £lB5. Dash Handicap. Racing over his favourite distance, Golden Dollar, who had finished fourth in the Belfast Handicap, proved equal to winning the Dash Handicap. Betty Axworthy led for most of the journey. With a round to go, War Bird, Golden Dollar, Wise Guy, Warpaint, Goldworthy and Elvo were attending the leader. The leading di\*ision was the same along the back. Betty Axworthy led into the straight from War Bird, Wise Guy, Golden Dollar and Goldworthy. Golden Dollar took charge half way down the straight. Betty Wrack challenged but broke near home. In a good finish, Golden Dollar won by half a length from Elvo, with Young Travis a neck away. Warpath was fotirth. Elvo carried £234 10s, Golden Dollar £l9O and Young Travis £lB2. Eclipse Handicap. Peter Locanda, fourth favourite with £205, won the Eclipse Handicap. Pie waited on the leaders to the straight, and then, with a strong finishing effoit, ran past them to get the verdict by three lengths from Elite Bingen, with Royal Chenault two lengths away. Tangatu was fourth. Elite Bingen was the leader for most of the journey from Tangatu and War Boat. The Golden Direct—Tangatu bracket was favourite with £384. War Boat, who finished fifth, carried £339. Flying Handicap. Lilian Bond, favourite with £275 for the Flying Handicap, was one of the chief sufferers in a mix-up as the field came to the mile. Nimbus, Major Lind and Pageant d’Or led with a round to go. Nimbus showed the way along the back to Major Lind, Some Guy, Waress and R .porter. Nimbus was first into the straight from Major Lind, Reporter, Waress and Some Guy. Major Lind got the better of a long duel with Nimbus and won by two lengths.
