FERNBROOK LASS WINS.

Elvo Beaten in Big Event at New Brighton To-day.

SURPRISE WIN BY MOTHERS BOY.

WINNING the Denton Memorial Handicap, the big event at New Brighton to-day, by a length, Fernbrook Lass was the only favourite to come home in the first four events. Fernbrook Lass decisively beat the fifth favourite, Real Huon, and the seventh favourite, Accras. Mother’s Boy, thirteenth favourite in a field of twenty-eight, effected a surprise by winning the Improvers’ Handicap from Royal Parrish and Prince Harvester. He paid a handsome dividend. The Dash Handicap, with a field of twenty-four, was won by Golden Dollar, fourth choice. The favourite, Elvo, was second and Young Travis third.

There were unusually big fields in nearly all races when the New Brighton Trotting Club’s February meeting •was held on the club’s course in ideal weather. There was a large attendance and the going was good. Real Burton was only half a length ahead of the tenth favourite. Camera, at the finish of the Belfast Handicap.
