GOOD PROSPECTS.
Marist Brothers Old Boys’ Club. The annual report and balance-sheet of the Marist Brothers’ Old Boys Catholic Club, which is to be presented at the annual meeting on Sunday next, discloses a loss on the year’s working. However, the prospects are considered good, as many improvements have recently been effected. An endeavour was made to keep up the standard of entertainment for the members that had been reached in past years. The re-institution of the annual Catholic picnic had been advanced a further step by a successful outing. The day was somewhat ■ spoiled by unsatisfactory weather, but the attendance of over 500 thoroughly enjoyed the arrangements made. During the year a social committee was formed for the purpose of creating entertainments for the schoolboys and a series of happy evenings was experienced. The Wednesday and Saturday night socials had been continued under Air A. Mulford. These socials assisted the club to perform good service to the parish schools by the provision of hot cocoa each day to some three or four hundred children. A forward move was made during the year by the adoption of a club blazer with an official monogram. The design proved very popular and over thirty are at present in use. Messrs C. Gallagher, R. H. Geoghan and li. Wilkins had acted as librarians during the year, but not many members had taken advantage of the excellent reading matter available.
