Mr A. W. Duncan, Wellington, is staying at Warner’g Hotel. Mr J. li. Sandbach, England, arrived in Christchurch this morning, and is staying at the United Service Hotel. The Right Rev Bishop West-Watson returned to Christchurch from Dunedin Inst evening. Messrs W. E. Sligo (Dunedin), J. E. Strahan and R. Richardson (Auckland) are staying at the New City Hotel. Rear-Admiral Watson, of the New Zealand Squadron, arrived in Sydney yesterday after attending the Singapore Conference. Mr S. W. M. Stilling New Zealand representative of the Australian National Travel Association, left for Wellington last evening. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Dr W. H. D. M’Kee was passed at a meeting of graduates of Canterbury University College last evening. Messrs A. W. Osborne and F. Lockwood (Wellington), J. C. 11. Landback (England) and G. Rundle (Sydney) are guests at the United" Service Hotel. Mr R. N. C. Hill was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court by Mr Justice Johnston yesterday afternoon on the motion of Mr E. W. White. Admiral C. Greatorex, who retired from the command of the Portsmouth Division of the Reserve Fleet in 1922, is making a round trip to New Zealand by the Tamaroa, which is due at Auckland from London next Wednesday. Dr E. P. Remond, »_1 Paris, a director of the Pacific Potash Company, Ltd., an amalgamation of French and German interests, is at present visiting Christchurch. He is staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr J. W. Mawsnn, formerly Director oi Town Planning for New Zealand, who recently -“turned from a trip abroad, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington yesterday morning, and left again by the ferry steamer last evening. Dr E. Marsden of the Department of Scientific and* Industrial Research, who has been engaged on geophysical work in* the gold-mining areas of Central Otago passed through Christchurch last evening on his way to Wellington. Arrivals by the Wahine this morning included Professor Alexander, Dr A. C. M’Killop, Dr Taffel, Dr Cummings, Lieutenant R. C. Queree, and Messrs R. L. Orbell, F. H. Orbell. H. Henry, R. Swift, A. Cameron, J. H. Jones, L. Bell and E. Spitz. The Very Rev Monsignor Delaney, of South Dunedin, and Father P. O’Neill, ot Winton, pa-.sed through Christchurch last evening on their way to Wellington to attend the celebration of the episcopal diamond jubilee of Archbishop Redwood. The Very Rev Dr C. Iv. Anderson, who has been appointed principal of Scots College, Sydney; to Professo* C. E. Malthus cn his appointment to the chair of modern languages at Canterbury College; and to Mr C. W Collins, who has been appointed « ollege librarian. Mr Thomas Muir, who has been selected by the Canterbury District Council of the Workers’ Educational Association out of eight candidates, to hold the association’s bursary for 1934, which enables the holder to study for a degree at Canterbury University College, received his primary education at the Shirley School and then went to the Christchurch Technical College. Last year he began his bachelor of engineering course at Canterbury College. He is eighteen years of age, and the annual value of the bursary is £2O. *
