Three Records Broken at New Plymouth. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH. February Three centre records were broken and one was equalled at the West Coast of the North Island Centre - championships on Saturday. The track was somewhat slow because of recent rain and heavydew. The sports were a contest between the Wanganui and Taranaki sub-centres, Mnnawatu not being represented. Taranaki won 17 titles and Wanganui seven. New centre records were established in the half-mile walk by -C. W. Coleman (Eltham), with a time of 3min 3 2-ssee; in the mile walk by S. C. Coleman (Eltham), with 6min 40 4-ssec; in putting the shot by a. D. Adlam (Stratford). with 38ft ljlri. The Taranaki women’s relay team equalled the 449yds record of 53 l-osec. S. A. Black (New Plymouth) won the 220yds and 440yds titles after fast races in two-fifths and three-fifths of a second respectively outside the centre record. J. Wade (Wanganui), the New Zealand title-holder, was beaten by a New Plymouth youth. M. Charteris, in the three-mile cycle race.
