Results of Novice Day Contests. All clubs except Lyttelton and Akaroa were represented in the Canterbury Rowing Association's novice contests on Saturday afternoon. Though the crews showed Jack of training, some good events were seen. Results:— Double Sculls. First heat: Sumner-Redcliffs No. 1 (Miles and Sutherland) beat Avon (Morgan and Harvey) by a length and a half. Second heat: Cure (Clark and O Connor) beat Sumner-Red cliffs No. 2 (Gant and Timms) by six lengths. Third heat: Sunmer-Rtdel ilfs r-,. 3 (Woods and Marker) beat Union (Robinson and Peri ton) by a length. Fourth heat: Sumner-Redcliffs No. 4 (Gant and Sugden) beat Canterbury (Renaut and Simpson) by four lengths. First semi-final: Cure beat SumnerRedcliffs No. 1 by three lengths. Second semi-final: Sumner-Redcliffs No. 3 beat Sumner-Redcliffs No. 4 by a length. Final—Cure beat Sumner-Redcliffs No. 3 by a length and a half. Pours.
