The Golden Sands return was 4 4oz sdwt for 21 shifts of eight hours each. AUCKLAND BUSINESS. (Special to the •Star.”) AUCKLAND, February 5. A fair list of sales was recorded at the first call of the week. Fresh bidding disclosed a healthy tone, with quotations mostly based on week-end valuations. For Government stocks there was a good demand, and a few parcels were on offer just above market rates. In the banking section, New Zealands continued to firm up, and had buyers at 50s 3d, with holders asking 51s. The mining section was fairly active. Blackwaters improved after a sale at 3.>s. Buyers then offered 35s 6d. but sellers had withdrawn. Consolidated <*olds wore in demand at ISs 9d, and Waihis •it 30s. Quotations at the noon, call followed those of this morning mainly, thou gw there was some movement in the mining section. A sale of Bank of New Zealand shares was reported at 50s 9d. an upward jump of 9d on the last sale on Saturday. Buyers of New Zealand Breweries increased their offers by 3d, while holders were easier in their demands by the same figure, leaving them at 40s 3d and 40s 9d respectively. Though no mining business was done in the room, many quotations changed from this morning. Waihi buyers are up Id. to 30s 3d. Sellers of Kornata Reefs came forward at 5s 6d. Waihi Grand Junctions have sellers at 4s Bd, with holders at Id more, or Id lower than this morning. Other lines are steady. BRIAN BORU DREDGE. Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH. February 5. The Brian Born dredge return was 56 ounces 18 dwts for 118 hours’ working. POULTRY AND EGGS. The Canterbury Co-operative Poultry Producers, Ltd., report that heavy pennings of poultry earn'd forward at their Wednesday's and Friday's sales. Buyers were again in full attendance and no trouble was experienced in clearing all lines at prices satisfactory to the scllBoilers—Medium to light, comprised the bulk of the yarding. Prices were on a par with week, realising up to ::s 9d. Boilers—Heavy were in fair supply and sold well at prices up to 3s tid. Chicken—Heavy are still scarce, and this lints was well disposed of at prices up to 10s. Chicken Medium were in short supply and realised up to 7>. Chicken—Light were in heavy supply and met with a fair demand, the prices realising up to 5s 3d per pair. I urkeys are bringing 10d per lb. Ducks and ducklings are still coming to hand 4 n fair quantities, values for which have slightly eased. Egg market firm.
