Girls Asked to be Taken Into Custody. Three sirls, who had asked to be taken Into custody to avoid going: back lo the Salvation Army Home faced Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. They were: Rita Te Uki, aged nineteen years; Josephine Ronga. eighteen years, and Muriel Irene Stanley, twenty-one years, and were charged with being idle and disorderly in that they had no lawful visible means of support. The accused pleaded not guilty, and were remanded in custody until February 12. Senior-Seorgennt Fox explained that two of the girls, Te Uki and Ronga, bad been convicted on the charge some time before, and ordered to come up for sentence if called on. In the meantime they were to stay at the Salvation Army Home. Hast evening they had gone to the Police Station and asked to be taken into custody, as they did not wish to return to the home. Other Cases. On a charge of drunkenness, Eleanor Josephine Eyeritt, aged fifty-four years, was convicted and ordered to pay 33s 6d cab-hire and medical expenses, in default seven days’ imprisonment. A remand until Thursday was granted in a case in which Marjorie Oliver, aged forty-four years, was charged with using indecent language in Latimer Square. The accused wished to consult a solicitor.
