“NO ONE EXCITED.”

Mr Archer Refers to Reports on Tram Finance. Stating that it would be his policy to make a statement to the board only when there was anything important to be discussed, the chairman of the Christchurch Tramway Board (the Rev J. K. Archer) at to-day’s meeting reduced the time allowed for the chairman’s remarks down to a few seconds. He said that one or two unauthorised statements had appeared in the newspapers concerning the board’s financial position, but no member was excited about that. The chief business to be discussed at the meeting was in regard to a system of rationing of work. An amicable arrangement had been arrived at and would be submitted to the board for approval.
