RULES AMENDED.

Conditions for Poultry Show. The Schedule Committee of the Christchurch Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Club met on Tuesday evening, Mr R. Pearce presiding. The rules and regulations were read by the secretary, and after considerable discussion the following recommendations were made:—Rule 3A to read—“ Firms competing as a firm only, must be financial members of the club, and will count in all competitions for club trophies, cups and prizes as one exhibitor on payment of one membership fee. In the event of members or firms wishing to compete separately, they will be eligible to compete for all club trophies, cups and prizes, by payment of a separate membership fee.” Rule 10—“ Instructions to judges to judge by standards. The standard for canaries to read, ‘Dominion of New Zealand standard, instead of British Specialists’ Club’s standards.’ ” It was agreed that a new rule be added that the executive reserve the right to accept or reject any entries submitted to it. The only alteration recommended in the poultry classification is that Silkies be added to the poultry classes instead of the bantams. This alteration was brought about by a resolution passed at the last annual meeting - of the South Island Poultry Association that Silkies should be in the poultry sections. The Breeders’ Challenge Stakes will be continued with slight alterations from last season. The schedule for this extra show will be issued in a few days. The fancy pigeon section was altered to provide for the different varieties of Modenas, which have become very popular during the past few seasons; also extra classes have been put on for Nun's. The I-lomer pigeon section is being made more attractive by the addition of six extra classes—soo mile cock, 500 mile hen, 350 mile cock, 350 mile hen. flown 1933-34, 100 mile cock, 100 mile hen, young birds 1933-34. Several alterations were recommended for the cage bird section, which will be submitted to the next general meeting of the club for approval. Recommendations will also be received at this meeting for improvements to the cookery and needlework classes.
