HEATHCOTE COUNTY.

Roads Found to be in Good Repair. The estimated value of the Heathcote County Council’s rateable area is £2,000,000. Each year an inspection of the past year’s work is carried out to enable the council members to see what improvements have been made. During the annual inspection yesterday, members expressed great satisfaction at the progressive work that had been done. The county roads were considered to be in satisfactory repair and those needing attention were visited. During the day deputations were met a t Aranui, Heathcote and ITuntsbury. Water supply, road work and better lighting were questions discussed at Heathcote. Water supply and tar-seal-ing work were put forward by the Huntsbury deputation. The following was the official party: Mr C. IT. Flavell (chairman), Councillors F. W. Freeman, E. Rowse, W. W. Scarff, A. G. Williams, W. H. Kerr and J. F. Scott; W. Carter (Cashmere foreman), E. Carter (Avon foreman), J. Veale (county clerk), F. E. Tucker (electrician) and A. Inder (inspector). Mr R. T. Bailey (officer-in-charge of the Labour Department) was present.
