Business on the Stock Exchange continues brisk, and a big list of sales covering a wide range of securities has been completed over the last twentyfour hours. Values generally are firm at late rates. A special feature at the moment is a strong demand for Government issues, and* fair business has been done in this class. Auckland Gas shares seemed a shade easier at this morning's call, being available at the last sale price, namely, 245. The Nokomai Gold Mining Company’ reports that the first wash-up of No. 3 paddock was completed on Saturday, when 2550 z 7dwt were obtained. A further wash-up will be macfe on Saturday next. The total area of bottom to be cleaned up in No. 3 paddock will be SSft by 176 ft. TALLOW AND HEMIP. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated January 13, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—There was a quiet demand at auction; 1067 casks were offered, of which 245 sold at late rates to 6d decline.
