Mr F. G. Kiley is staving at Warner’s Hotel.
Mr George S. Thomson returned to Christchurch this morning from Ashburton.
Guests at the United Service Hotel include Messrs A. Beauchamp, H. A, Le Pine (Wellington), W. J. Watkins (Timaru) and C. Morrison (Auckland). Mr F. Langbein, district engineer of the Public Works Department, has returned to Christchurch from his annual leave, and will resume his duties tomorrow.
Mr W. G. M’Donald, managing director, and Mr W. Morgan Gimson, consulting engineer of The Mining House (N.Z.), Ltd., returned from the north this morning. Guests at the New City Hotel include Messrs A. Ibbotson (Dunedin), A. E. Smith (Queenstown), J. M’Kenzie (Greymouth), W. Lowry (Wellington) and G. C. Christie (Victoria).
Mr F. Pawson, business agent for the Railways Board in Christchurch, who has been absent from duty for about ten days owing to illness, is expected to return this week. The Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) will leave this evening for Picton to attend the reception to the GovernorGeneral (Lord Bledisloe) by the South Island Maoris. Commander Eric Rhodes, who has been visiting Kaikoura with Mr Norman Campbell, of Glendhu, to investigate the possibilities of deep-sea fishing off the coast, will return to Christchurch this evening.
