The forthcoming enthronement of Henry Pu Yi as Emperor of the new State of Manchukuo is creating immense public interest. He is being hailed with enthusiasm, not only by the people of Manchukuo, but also by the residents inside the Great Wall of China. His enthronement will take place on a special altar a hundred metres in diameter on March 1, immediately the sun appears above the horizon, thereby indicating that Pu Yi has been elected Sun-of-Heaven Emperor of all the peoples of Manchukuo. thus regaining his lost exalted position as Manchu Ruler. It is believed that on his accession Pu Yi will succeed in winning the support of the Mongols. who are still steeped in monarchical traditions.
