Canterbury Championship Tournament. The Canterbury croquet championships were continued at the United Club’s greens yesterday. Though conditions were unfavourable some good games were witnessed. Results:— CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. First. Round—A. G. F. Ross beat Mrs Stallard. 26-5. WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. Second Round—Mrs Palmer beat Mrs E. C. M’Cullough, 26-9. A LEVEL SINGLES. First Round—Neutze beat Miss Campbell. 26-24. Second Round—Mrs Anderson beat Mrs Henry, 26-18: A. Rhodes-Williams beat Mrs Rhodes-Williams. IZARD MEMORIAL DOUBLES. First Round—Mrs Palmer and 3. M’Cullough beat Mrs Scandrett and Neutze, 26-6. HANDICAP DOUBLES. Semi-finals—Mrs Grey and S. M’Cullough beat Mrs Maddren and Miss Collinson, 26-24; Mrs Evans and A. G. FRoss beat Miss Bell and Rhodes-Wil-liams, 26-2 J. HANDICAP SINGLES. Second Round—Mrs Rinaldi beat Mrs J. Bean land, 26-18; Mrs Scandrett beat Mrs Grey, 26-12; A. Rhodes-Williams beat Mrs Batie, 26-9; M’Cullough beat Mrs H. Smith, 26-6; Mrs Palmer beat Mrs Smithson, 26-15. TO PLAY WELLINGTON. The following have been selected to represent Canterbury against Wellington on January 19:—S. M’Cullough, Penn, A. G. F. Ross and H. G. Williams, Mesdames Cole and Corbett. South Island Tourney. (Special to the “Star.”) ASHBURTON. December 27. Competitors from all over the South , island as well as many from the North i Island have entered for the South Island croquet championships, wmcii begin on January 4 at Ashburton. More ' than 100 entries have been received io i date and it is anticipated that wlren , the entries finally close at the week-end the number will be iri the vicinity of 150. Among the competitors are many who will be taking- part in the New Zealand croquet championship tournament which will b v held in Christchurch almost immediately after the South Island tournament. Among those competing at Ashburton will be Mrs W. 17. Caidow, of Wellington, present New Zealand woman champion and North Island open champion; Mrs C. A.
