ASHBURTON NEWS.

Salvation Army Band to Visit Queenstown. (Special to the “ Star.") ASHBURTON. December 27. Arrangements have been made for the Ashburton Salvation Army Band, under the conductorship of Mr G. K. Argvle. to visit Queenstown over the New Year holidays to participate in the New Year celebrations. The band will leave Ashburton on Saturday' morning and will return on Wednesday. The trip is being made possible by local car-owners placing their cars at the disposal of the band and bv the bandsmen themselves contributing to the expenses. On Sundav the band will be in attendance at all the Salvation Army services and on Monday will make a trip up Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchv. Tuesday will be devoted to sightseeing and a final concert will be given on Tuesday evening.
