GOING TO SINGAPORE.

Naval Men Will Attend Conference.

("Star” Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, December 15.

The purpose of Rear-Armiral Burges Watson’s mission to the East was definitely ascertained to-day. Accompanied by Lieutenant-Commander Alcock, he left Wellington by the Monowai this afternoon to attend the next periodical Singapore naval conference to discuss matters of common interest, which will take place at Singapore in January, 1934. It is understood that the commanders-in-chief of the China and East India stations will be present at the conference, travelling in His Majesty’s ships, Kent and Hawkins, and also the read-admiral commanding the Australian squadron. Rear-Admiral Burges Watson will be absent from New Zealand for some months.
