Americans to Visit Melbourne.
United Press Assn.—By Electric Tel egrapli—Copyright. WASHINGTON, December 13. A message from St Petersburg (Florida) states that the Australian Press Association was informed that negotiations were proceeding to have the American Professional Golf Association send a team to Australia to participate in an open tournament at the Melbourne Centenary and» a teams’ match against Australians, depending on satisfactory financial arrangements being made. An official of the association said lie had communicated its terms to Australia, but there had not been time to receive an answer yet. He said that if the dates were arranged so that the Americans could leave in the middle of October and return to America by January l, 1935, it was likely that they could get from eight to ten players to make the. trip. Many of the leading golfers, including Kirkwood, were interested.
