SWIMMER HURT.
Was He Attacked by Barracouta? Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH. December 11. Bruce Jonas. 26 years of age, was admitted to hospital with severe lacerations to the foot and hand received from a fish while swimming at Onaero beach last evening. During the day barracouta were very prevalent on the beaches and it is believed that Jonas was attacked by one of these and not by a shark as at first thought. An operation was performed on Jonas last evening. His condition is satisfactory.
