Hard Battles at Wilding Park To-day. COMPETITION MATCHES. The second round of the senior competition at Wilding: Park to-day again produced some steAi tennis. Though were any number of hard battles and several prominent players emerged the victor only after a keen struggle. One of the notable games resulted from the meeting of H. A. Barnett, of Canterbury College, and D. G. Silvester, first man for Addington. Admittedly Barnett is not yet near form, but it was expected that he would not have great difficulty against Silvester, who has had little senior play. Silvester plays a strong game with good strokes, and. with Barnett still making many mistakes, the Addington player had him in difficulties many times. However, Barnett held his ground and had sufficient in reserve to win 6-4, 6-4. Results were: SENIOR, GRADE. United I. v. linwood. Singles. C. Angas beat A. R. Cant, 6-1, 6-1. H. S. P.
