Gatherings Held in Town and Suburbs. GIFT EVENING. An enjoyable time was spent on Saturday evening at. the home of Mr and Mrs Stan Bull. Waltham, when a number of friends were entertained in honour of Miss Nore>en Butterfield, whose marriage will take place this month. The party took the form of a gift evening and the bride-to-be was the recipient of many useful gifts. Competitions were Avon by Mrs Mayo and Mr Cliff Butterfield. A lucky spot dance was won by Misses Edie and Mary Bull and a Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Dorothy Butterfield and Mr Cliff Butterfield. Among those present were:—Mr and Mrs S. Lull, Mr and Mrs A. Butterfield. Mr and Mrs S. Fergus, Mr and Mrs Mayo. Mr and Mrs A. Chambers, Mr and Mrs G. Aldridge. Mrs F. Bull, Misses Xoreen Butterfield. Gwen Congdon. Thelma Brealy, Dorothy Butterfield. Mary Bull, Alice Stewart, Edie Bull, Gladys Congdon, Xetta Chambers. Joan Bull,' Fav Butterfield, Edna Bull and Jean Tallev. Messrs J,. Butterfield. L. King. U. Bull. C. Butterfield. F. Bull, B. Bull.. A. Fergus, F. Beckingsale and J. Bull. Flag 500 Evening. The members of the Woolston Tennis Club held their last flag five hundred evening for this year in the Druids' Hall. There was a large attendance. Prizes were won by Miss N. Dick, Messrs ,W. Hawkins and J. C. Ladenhead and consolation prizes were awarded to Mr and. Mrs Lane and Miss Rodgerson. Messrs E. S. Parish and W. Cowles were M.C.'s. Surprise Party at Spreydon. A surprise party recently visited the home of Mr and Mrs Jenkins, Barrington Street, in honour of the birthday of their younger daughter, Gladys. A pleasant evening was spent in games, dancing and competitions. Misses Ngaire Ford and Valerie Campbell were joint M.C.’s. Items were given by Misses R. Griffiths, X. Hopkins and G. Jenkins. Those present included:—Mr and Mrs C. A. Jenkins, Misses Gladys Jenkins, Valerie Campbell, Ngaire Ford. Rae Luxton, No la Hopkins, Komola Griffiths, Joan Harrison. Lorraine Lobh.
