Women’s Auxiliary Plans Event. DEPUTATION RECEIVED. Arrangements for the garden party to be held on February 10, in aid of the , Benevolent Fund of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association, were discussed at the meeting yesterday of the Women’s Auxiliary of the association. Thacker (chairman), E. Davis. L. 11. Powell, H. A. Bishop. W. K. Wright, A. Templer, A. Morten, J. C. Holmes. J. I. Royds, Misses A. Bowker, M. G. Brown. C. Rogers, T. Raphael, E. M. Cuthbert (honorary secretary) and Mrs J. S. Kelly (assistant The Rev F. T. Read (president) and Mr El. M. Grant, one of the vice-presi-dents of the association, waited on the auxiliary. Mr Read said that they desired. ori behalf of the executive and of the members generally, to express their appreciation of the work done by the auxiliary in the past. They had learned that the auxiliary intended holding a garden party in aid of the Benevolent Fund and they hoped that it would be a great success. The demands on the association’s funds were increasing as the result of many men who had been discharged fit having become unfit. These men were now asking for assistance from the association. The help given by the auxiliary had always been valued and appreciated by the association. which had great confidence in Its members. Arrangements for Stalls. Mr Grant endorsed and amplified Mr Read’s remarks. The chairman said that any assistance the auxiliary could give would be given willingly. After the deputation had withdrawn, arrangements for the garden party were discussed. It was reported that the place at which the party was to ha held had not yet been definitely arranged. There would be produce, cakes, sweets, ice cream, flowers and book stalls, afternoon tea tent, competitions, bran tub and side-shows. A motion of sympathy with Miss A. M.
