A recommendation that it be compulsory for house numbers to be affixed to gates instead of to houses was made by Councillor T. H. Butterfield at the meeting of the City Council last night. He said that with the numbers an houses difficulty was experienced in locating residences, particularly at night. The recommendation was not dealt with by the council.
