Australia’s ability to produce a talking picture equal to the world’s best is demonstrated in “ The Squatter’s Daughter.” Cinesound’s vivid romance of the Australian wool industry, which will begin on Saturday at the Plaza Theatre. The vigorous activities of a great Australian sheep station provide the setting for a story of love and hatred, greed, and self-sacrifice. The heroine. .Joan Enderby. and her crippled brother, Jimmy, own and are proud of the station named after them, but they are in grave danger of losing it because of the machinations of Clive Sherington. whose father owns the neighbouring station of “ Waratah,” and of Nick Fletcher, his manager. Joan gains many helpers in her fight, the principal one being a handsome stranger, Wayne Ridgeway. How the girl retains her beloved station and gains a husband into the bargain makes a fascinating story. Jocelyn Howarth and Grant Lyndsay are tJie stars.
